Selawik resident arrested for murder

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - An investigation into the death of an 18-year-old Monday morning lead to the arrest of a Selawik resident on charges of murder and manslaughter.

    On Monday at 3:27 am, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of the death of 18-year-old Selawik resident Kierra Foxglove.

    According to the dispatch, initial reports from the village health aid indicated that the death was suspicious in nature.

    At first light, Troopers from Kotzebue and Alaska Bureau of Investigation Western Alaska Major Crimes Investigators responded to Selawik to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

    Investigators determined that 23-year-old Selawik resident Floyd Stoney was responsible for the death of Foxglove and her unborn child.

    Stoney was arrested on charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Manslaughter of an Unborn Child.

    Stoney will be remanded to Kotzebue Regional Jail.
