Search ends for man overboard

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Grant Hildreth, 25, was last seen Thursday afternoon.

The Coast Guard suspended the search this afternoon.  Hildreth had fallen out of a 190 foot fishing vessel Cape Greig in Ugashik Bay.

Alaska State Troopers said the crew tried to save the man by throwing him a flotation device but he went under the water and couldn't be located.  He was not wearing a personal flotation device.

The Coast Guard in Kodiak provided the HC-130 Hercules aircraft crew, and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to the search.  11 good Samaritans were also involved in the search

Lt. Stephen Nolan, the command duty officer at District 17, said it was a sad result, "Even though we were unable to find the man, we are thankful that so many good Samaritans were willing to assist for the duration of the search."
