Sealaska to wait to fill vacant seat

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Ross Soboleff passed away in July. Sealaska will wait until September to fill the seat.

The Sealaska Board held a moment of silence to observe Soboleff's passing.  He had served four years in the board.  President Joe Nelson said out of respect for Soboleff's family they will wait until September to fill the vacancy, "Director Soboleff skillfully led a board governance reform effort that embraced a philosophy of continuous improvement.  Over the last couple of years, his calm and deliberate leadership style guided the board through a number of difficult conversations that ultimately resulted in a number of meaningful improvements in how the board works together to accomplish its goals."

The board will meet next on September 6-7, 2018.
