Salmon derby unofficial results

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Some of the top weights were recorded in Douglas as the 72nd annual Golden North Derby wrapped up Sunday.

    The unofficial results had James McKnight with the lead at 17.7 pounds.  He entered the fish on Saturday in Douglas.  Nicole Ng came in second at 17.2 pounds with a coho weighed at Amalga Harbor.   Paul Curry in Douglas and Daniel Abel at Auke Bay tied for third with a coho salmon that weighed 17 pounds.  Sean McKeon finished off the top five with a weight of 16.9 pounds weighed in at Amalga Harbor.

    Justin Thornton 16.8 pounds in Douglas, Isaac Gobel, 16.7 pounds in Auke Bay and Matt Dull, 16.7 pounds in Douglas.

    Finishing off the top 10 were fish caught by Colton Johns that weighed 16.6 pounds in Douglas and Carrie Bohan, 16.4 pounds.  at Amalga Harbor

    The official results will be announced Wednesday   The awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday night at 5:30 pm at Centennial Hall.

    All three stations in Douglas, Auke Bay, and Amalga Harbor had busy weekends collecting scholarship fish donated by the anglers.  Douglas collected more than 200 scholarship fish on Sunday.
