Restaurants hope for influx of customers

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) 10 Juneau restaurants are taking part in the third annual downtown Juneau restaurant week.

Dana Herndon, Executive Director of the Downtown Business Association said the promotion should help local business, "I hope it is really successful.  We have plenty of participation.  They will have $12 and $20 deals.  Its a great time for people to come downtown, try their favorite spot, or go to a new place they haven't tried before.  We hope to have a lot of traffic in these restaurants.

Herndon said the idea came from a marketing committee that brainstorms ideas to help business flourish.  "The idea originated from this committee.  A subcommittee was formed.  From there we designed restaurant weeks.  We change it every time to see what sticks.  This year what is new is the $12 and $20 menu options."

Herndon said there are several reasons to give a new restaurant a try this week, "The top five reasons are a variety of restaurants to choose from, its affordable, discounts exclusive to this week, and it is a real good excuse to go out to eat, try something new.  Its also a great reason and support our local businesses."
