Residential fire in Wainwright claims one life

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A person has perished in a residential fire in the Interior town of Wainwright.

    That's according to the Alaska State Fire Marshal's Office which says the fire occurred Monday morning.

    A dispatch says one of the occupants was missing and presumed to be in the structure.  Two deputy fire marshals traveled to Wainwright to conduct an investigation.  While searching the fire debris they located human remains believed to belong to the missing adult occupant. The remains were sent to the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification.

    The cause of the fire remains under investigation, however, no foul play is suspected.
