Rep. Saddler Resigns to Take DNR Job

Eagle River, Alaska (KINY) - Saddler, a former spokesman for Gov. Frank Murkowski, is in his fourth term in the house.

An Alaska House of Representatives seat in Eagle River is opening up earlier than expected.

Representative Dan Saddler, with a month left in his term, resigned effective this week to join the Dunleavy administration as communications director for the Alaska Department of Natural Resources.

Saddler, a former spokesman for Gov. Frank Murkowski, is in his fourth term in the house. He lost a Republican primary bid for the Alaska State Senate in August.

Former Representative Nancy Dahlstrom was elected to succeed him, but the seat is vacant now that Dahlstrom has joined Gov. Dunleavy's cabinet as commissioner of the Alaska Department of Corrections.
