Prosecutor jailed in domestic assault case

    Sitka, Alaska (KINY) - Amy Williams, 38 is accused of assault in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor after an alleged domestic disturbance May 16.

    Court records show Williams appeared in court Tuesday.

    Her attorney is Natasha Norris.

    Williams had served as a prosecutor in the Juneau District Attorney's Office.  She had been assigned to handle cases in Sitka.

    The Anchorage Daily News reported Williams was accused of assaulting her boyfriend while trying to force him out of the home they share.

    Alcohol was said to be a factor in the incident.

    The state placed Williams on administrative leave.

    Sitka Police said the victim was left bloody during the fight.

    The Juneau District Attorney Angie Kemp will assign lawyers to handle prosecutions in Sitka.
