Prison riot results in convictions

Fairbanks, Alaska (KINY) Five inmates were convicted of riot and criminal mischief.

The Fairbanks Daily News Miner reported a jury convicted the men late Monday after deliberating for under one day.  The inmates include Marcus Howard, Robert Gentleman III, Tevyn Davis, Patrick Burton-Hill and Jerald Burton, Jr.

Eight additional inmates face trials on the same charges.

Authorities said the men broke windows, poured soap on the floor and refused to follow the orders of guards.  Law enforcement officers deployed chemical irritants and were able to force the inmates to surrender.
