Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Regulatory Commission of Alaska has approved a power sales agreement for Holland America to purchase available shore power from Juneau's electric utility beginning with the 2022 season.
Kirby Day of the Holland America Group in Juneau says in a release that they will be finalizing details with Alaska Electric, Light, and Power. He says they move a couple of vessels around to call at the Franklin Dock so they can connect to shore power assuming the additional energy is available.
Day says they plan to connect the Zuidersam 20 times and the Koningsdam three times.
The service can be interrupted if surplus power is not available.
