Polls close for primary

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Polls are closed in Juneau and results are expected to be released soon.

    The featured races in Juneau include House District 33 with candidates Tom Morphet, Steve Handy and Sara Hannon, all democrats.  The winner will meet independent candidate Chris Dimond in November.  In House District 34 Andy Story is opposed by Rob Edwardson.  The winner will oppose Jerry Nankervis, the republican candidate, in November.

    In Sitka,republicans are deciding between Dr. Richard Wein and Kenny Skaflestad in House District 35.  The winner will oppose incumbent Jonathan Kreiss-Tompkins in November.

    Around the state voters decided primaries for Governor, Lt. Governor, congress, 20 house seats and 10 senate seats.

    Results came in a little later than expected.  The first results are expected about 9:25 pm
