Police intercept heroin

    Petersburg, Alaska (KINY) A suspect was charged when police got suspicious about a package.

    Kelsey McKay, 25, was charged with misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree and was held at the Petersburg Community Jail.

    Police said they intercepted a package that contained just under one ounce of heroin.  They delivered the package to a residence on Frederick Point Road.  McKay allegedly discarded the package when he noticed it had been opened.

    The heroin was enough for 200 hits.  According to online sources, each hit is worth between $15 and $20.

    Petersburg Police also arrested Stephen Waddle, 41, on charges of burglary in the second degree.  Mr. Waddle allegedly burglarized the Trading Union and stole approximately $2,000 in merchandise.
