ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Anchorage police say a 21-year-old man who had argued with homeless people near his workplace allegedly returned to the area over the weekend and fired a long gun several times, killing one and injuring four others.
That is according to charging documents in the case. Anthony Lee Herring faces murder and other counts in the shooting early Saturday morning. His girlfriend told police he had fired shots at the five people near his workplace at a downtown Anchorage gas station. The Anchorage Daily News reported Herring had argued with homeless people there Friday as they threw knives at a wooden pole.
