Pipe bomb disabled

    Sitka, Alaska (KINY) A member of the public located an assembled metal pipe bomb and took it to police.

    Sitka Police said an investigation found that Zachary Loewen, 28, manufactured the bomb.

    Police took the bomb to a safe location and alerted the FBI for assistance.  They were able to disable the bomb with an explosive ordinance disposal robot.

    Loewen was charged with one felony count of misconduct involving weapons in the third degree.  He was held at the Sitka Jail to await a US District Court appearance.
