Pilot walks away from plane crash

    Sterling, Alaska (KINY) The plane hit a tree but was able to land safely.

    A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers said the incident occurred on a dirt airstrip in Sterling.  The pilot Eugene Rohl, 58, of Soldotna, was on final approach for landing when the left wing of the plane hit the tree and the plane crashed to the ground.

    The dispatch went on to report that no one was injured and there was no foul play suspected.  Both the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration were contacted to investigate.
