Phone Scam Targeting AEL&P Customers

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A phone scam targeting Alaska Electric Light and Power customers is making the rounds in the Juneau and Douglas.

    A telephone scam targeting Alaska Electric Light and Power customers is making the rounds in Juneau and Douglas.

    AEL&P spokesperson Debbie Driscoll said the calls, which are aggressive in nature and demand payment, are a clear-cut scam directed at customers.

    Driscoll said she wants the public to know that AEL&P would not make aggressive calls when it comes to billing or other matters.

    Keeping personal information safe, Driscoll added, is of key importance to preventing scams like this from being successful.

    Driscoll said that more than 20 calls have made in recent days and that AEL&P has notified law enforcement about the scam.
