Palmer toddler drowns in creek

    Palmer, Alaska (KINY) - The 17-month-old had wandered off and was found late Tuesday in Bodenburg Creek.

    Alaska State Troopers said a search was conducted after a family member reported the missing child near Sullivan Avenue.

    Neighbors and volunteers searched for about 45 before the discovery was made.

    Life-saving measures were attempted at the scene by Butte Fire and Mat-Su Water Rescue and the child was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center and later air-lifted to Providence Medical Center's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

    She was pronounced deceased early Wednesday.
