Overdue from Snowmachine Trip leads to Search and Rescue

Juneau, AK (KINY) - On Sunday, 26-year-old Jazmin James was reported overdue by family members.

James was reportedly traveling from Nunapitchuk to Tununak by snowmachine on Saturday.

According to State Trooper dispatch reports, James was reported to have stopped briefly in Nightmute before heading towards Toksook Bay and Tununak. Nightmute residents did say that James was having track problems. On Sunday evening, Toksook Bay Search and Rescue personnel found James' snowmachine on the sea ice near Rocky Point, with the machine being revealed as the tide dropped. James was not with the snowmachine, nor was there any indication that he had walked on the ice near where the machine was found.

Next of kin have been notified of the search and rescue efforts. The search is ongoing.
