
Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 511 new cases of COVID-19 in the state between Friday and Sunday.
There were 51 hospitalizations. The next report on deaths is due out Wednesday. Since the start of the pandemic, 1,168 deaths have been reported in Alaska.
The department says 494 of the new cases were among Alaska residents. The Anchorage area topped the list at 137. There were 55 cases on the Kenai Peninsula and 49 in the Mat Su Borough
Juneau accounted for 36 of the cases. There were 12 cases in Ketchikan, ten in Sitka, five between Hoonah, Angoon, and Yakutat, four in Skagway, four in the Prince of Wales - Hyder Census Area, and one in Metlakatla.
The statewide alert level remains high, according to the department.
