On site consumption of marijuana tabled

Nome, Alaska (KINY) The Alaska Marijuana Control Board delayed until June a vote on whether or not to allow on site consumption of marijuana at permitted retail outlets.

Erika McConnell, the director of the Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office, recommended that the board put the draft regulations out for public comment first before they take action.

The board unanimously opted to wait until it was back to full strength to even have any further discussion on the matter. The board is down one member after Travis Welch resigned from the public safety seat last month.

The on-site use has been discussed for several years.  The Board adopted rules in 2015 to allow people to use marijuana at authorized stores.  They have never finalized how that scenario would work however.
