No luck in search

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) The search for two missing hikers in Wrangell St. Elias National Park continues.

The couple from Missouri were dropped off there on June 22 for a six day hiking trip east of Mount Drum across Dadina Plateau

Search crews said they located backpacks filled with gear and other items near the Sanford river where the hikers had been dropped off.  Poor weather suspended the search on Saturday.  The park pilot and other volunteers continued the search Sunday and today.

The National Park Service reported that searchers found footprints near a glacier that matched the thread of boats found down river.
