No Juneau kindergarten classroom to open until January

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - After concerns raised by teachers about safety and the governor's request to curtail activity to reduce case numbers, the Juneau Board of Education decided to delay plans for in-person instruction.

The district had set a goal of having kindergarten students return as soon as November 30th.

Today they opted to delay the introduction of regular education in schools until at least January 11.

District teachers will continue to deliver distance instruction for students.

Kinder Ready, Montessori Borealis Children's House, internet support, Rally, and some special education services will continue as is.

The district will continue to monitor local health conditions and could change operational status at any time.
