New Senator in Alaska

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) The Alaska Senate is again at full strength.

Republican Mike Shower took the oath of office given by Senate President Pete Kelly.  The U.S. Air Force retired Lt. Colonel, replaced Mike Dunleavy who resigned to post to focus on a run for governor this year.

Shower was the third person nominated to replace Dunleavy.  Thomas Braund withdrew after a firestorm and protest over some social media posts.  Senate republicans rejected the Governors first choice.
