New rankings out for domestic airlines

Wichita, Kansas (KINY) Alaska Airlines was ranked #1 in the new report released by researchers.

The Airline Quality Rating, from the researchers at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Wichita State University tracks on-time performance, bumped passengers, mishandled bags and customer complaints for the nations 12 largest airlines.

The highest flier on the quality list, Alaska Airlines, ranked number one for the second year in a row. Delta, Jet Blue, Hawaiian and Southwest rounding out the top five. And despite a string of passenger horror stories about their flying experiences.   Overall the report said the quality of service from all U-S airlines... actually hit a record high in 2017.

Manager of External Affairs Tim Thompson said employees make the difference, "We are very excited to again be named the top ranked airline in the nation.  We work very hard to provide the best service, the safest service to all our customers.  To be ranked #1 in this report, with all the statistics, we are pretty proud of this."

Thompson predicted 2018 will be a strong year for the airline with a busy summer ahead.
