National Night Out Connects Juneau to Emergency Responders, Police, Coast Guard, and More

Juneau, AK (KINY) - Juneau will be hosting the National Night Out this evening to connect the community to various first responder groups.

The community-wide event kicks off at 7 pm and will run to about 9 pm for most places.

There will be a lot of street closures in areas that have gotten permission to run said block parties. Traffic will be closed from 4:30 pm to 11 pm at several locations; find a full list on our post from earlier today.

Lt Krag Campbell at the Juneau Police Department talked to us about the event. The National Night Out is a wonderful opportunity to meet the people who help keep the community safe and those who give aid in times of need.

“National Night Out is just a time for people like first responders and other community groups to meet with the community in a non-stressful, non-work-related environment, and just going to hang out get to know each other in hopes to bring the community closer together.”

Campbell says that there lots of groups that will be visiting the various block parties this evening.

“We have ten different organizations such a Juneau Police, State Troopers, CCFR, Lemon Creek Correctional Center, Coast Guard, National Guard, lots of different groups and I’m thinking we’ll have about 25-30 volunteers going out. We divide into five different groups to meet all the block parties during that two hour time period.”
