Names of Native teens added at Denali summit

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) John Fredsen and Esaias George took part in the expedition to reach the summit in 1913.

KTVA News reported that the marker and photo are exhibited at the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.  The two teenagers did not reach the summit but did run the base camp for the expedition.

Alaska Native climber Walter Harper led the expedition.

Hall of Fame Director Harlow Robinson said adding the names was the right decision and the work the two teens did was crucial to the success of the expedition.
