Musher sled victim of hit and run

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) The Iditarod continues to make news off the race course.

Six time Iditarod finisher Wade Marrs said one of his dogs suffered a broken leg Friday when a car hit his team while they were training, and then fled the scene.  He posted remarks on the incident on his Facebook Page.  Good samaritans stopped to assist and brought the dog to a nearby clinic for treatment.  The dog, named Sockeye, suffered a displaced fracture and will likely require surgery that will keep the dog out of the 2018 race.

Marrs has finished in the top 10 before and finished fourth in the 2016 race.
