Murkowski faces reprimand

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) The Alaska Republican Party is considering penalties against U.S Senator Lisa Murkowski for failing to support the appointment of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court

Party Chairman Tuckerman Babcock said the party could issue a statement, withdraw support for Murkowski, encourage party officials to look for a replacement, and ask that she not seek re-election as a Republican in 2022.

The party requested Murkowski's office provide any information she might want to the state central committee.

Babcock said there is general outrage among Alaska Republicans for Murkowski's failure to vote on the nomination Saturday.  She voted present and did not vote.  She voted present for Montana Republican Senator Steve Daines who was unable to vote because he attended his daughter's wedding.

Murkowski told reporters that if she worried about political repercussions she wouldn't be able to do the job Alaskans expect her to do.
