Multiple agencies put out boat fire

Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - The 60-foot M/V Capella wooden liveaboard at the harbor went on fire early Friday.

Ketchikan firemen and crews from the Ketchikan Ports and Harbors and South Tongass Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

Firemen said the blaze burned in a storage area below deck.

Fire crews used hand lines to put out the flames.  Thomas Street was blocked off for a short time as fire crews used a fire hydrant on the street.

Firemen said the fire was contained to the vessel and no injuries were reported.

The USCG Marine Safety Department, Ketchikan Police and the American Red Cross assisted at the scene.
