Mountain Lion sightings in Metlakatla

    Metlakatla, Alaska (KINY) - There are reports on Metlakatla island of an animal thought to be outside of the range of Alaska.

    In a public notice sent out by the Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Metlakatla Mayor's office, they say a mountain lion has been spotted by individuals on the island.

    The lion, which was first spotted on the 24th, was seen near and in a landfill.

    Fish and Wildlife say for several days they will be monitoring areas the Lion was reported to be seen with wildlife cameras, and will report the findings to the mayor's office.
