Mom and infant rescued

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) A mother and infant were stranded while hiking in the Mendenhall Flats area Friday.

Capital City Fire Rescue reported the pair had gone hiking and didn't pay attention to the tide.  A rescue boat and crew was dispatched at 2 pm to the north end of the airport runway to rescue them.

Assistant Fire Chief Ed Quinto said the pair had plenty of dry land left when they arrived and were in no danger.  He said both were in good shape physically.

They transported the pair to Industrial Blvd where they were picked up by their family.
