KETCHIKAN (KINY) - Thunder Mountain’s Jahrease Mays showed up to win the 125-pound weight class at the 2018 Bill Weiss tournament in Ketchikan on Saturday.

Mays, a junior for the Falcons, bested Petersburg’s Reed Anderson in the first round on a fall at 1:11, beat Metlakatla’s Brady Eaton-Milne in the second round on a fall in just 25 seconds, and defeated Ketchikan’s Patrick Rauwolf in the championship on a 9-5 decision to take the gold.
Nick Tipton, Derek Mason and Jacob Ferster each took second-place spots, with the team score of 119.5 good enough for fourth place out of the 11 teams participating.
The home team from Ketchikan High School won the tourney with a team score of 268.5 and a first place performance from sophomore Charlie Blair.
