Mayor's last proclamation honors Jim Carroll

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau Mayor Ken Koelsch issued his very last proclamation as part of his swan song on Action Line Friday.

It was to honor Jim Carroll who made his last trip as a driver for Princess Tours this week after 49 years.

Carroll began driving guided tours in 1970.

In reaction, Carroll said, "Ken Koelsch, you got me on that one.  Thank you very much for that."

The mayor and Carroll have been friends for 50 years.  They taught school at the same time in the local school district.  Jim was a teacher for three decades.  He also served with the Juneau Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years and as the volunteer fire chief for five of those years.

Carroll figures he talked to hundreds of thousands of visitors to Juneau over the years.
