Marijuana taxes take a tumble

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Marijuana tax revenues fell by $75,000 in December according to the monthly report from the state.

    The state collected $784,000 in December, $869,000 in November and $920,000 in October from marijuana sales.  The amount collected in October was a record for the state.  Collection of taxes began from state-licensed facilities in October, 2016.

    The tax is imposed when marijuana is sold or transferred from a marijuana cultivation facility to a retail pot shop.

    State officials predicted marijuana revenues would increase in January to approximately $1 million.
