Man steals DOT truck in Fairbanks, later arrested in Wasilla

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A Fairbanks resident was arrested Monday after authorities located a truck he allegedly stole from an Alaska Department of Transportation yard in Fairbanks.

    Troopers report that on Sunday at about 11:30 in the evening, an individual was caught on security footage breaking into a Fairbanks area Alaska DOT yard and stealing a Ford F550 and enclosed trailer belonging to the State of Alaska.

    The next day at about 2:54 in the afternoon, DOT reported that the vehicle's tracker showed it was at an address on Schrock Rd in Wasilla.

    Palmer Patrol and BHP units responded and located the vehicle in front of the residence.

    The occupants of the residence refused to cooperate and answer the door. A search warrant was requested and obtained. During search warrant service on the residence, Alexander Bratton age 33 of Fairbanks, was located inside.

    Investigation revealed Bratton committed the crimes of Theft II x2, Vehicle Theft I, and Criminal Trespass I.

    Bratton was arrested and remanded to Matsu Pretrial on the above charges, in addition to his outstanding warrant for Escape II.
