Man missing in woods

    Haines, Alaska (KINY) The US Coast Guard sent two MH-60 helicopters to lead the search for a missing 74-year-old man, last seen Friday.

    Air Station Sitka said the Jayhawk aircrews conducted a one hour search utilizing night vision goggles, forward-looking infrared radar and a spot life Saturday night and return to the search area on Sunday.

    Crews from Juneau, Skagway and Haines are also helping with a canine search team and two ground teams.

    His car was found on a remote road Saturday evening.

    The USCG said the man has no reported medical issues or mental instability.

    .Weather on scene was 10 miles visibility and an air temperature of 54 degrees.

     

    Update***  The Coast Guard reported the 74 year old man was found safe and sound and transported by helicopter to Haines EMS crews standing by.  He was reported to be in good condition.
