Man jailed in Sitka stabbing

    Sitka, Alaska (KINY) Sitka police said a 36 year old male victim is recovering at a hospital in Anchorage.

    Sitka Police responded to a 911 call about an active stabbing just after 1 pm Tuesday and found Anthony Beltran, 29, at the location with a knife in his  hand, authorities said.

    Beltran was charged with attempted murder in the first degree. The 911 caller had identified him as the suspect, police add.

    He was taken into custody without incident and held at the Sitka Jail in lieu of $125,000 bond.

    The victim was taken by medical helicopter to  Anchorage for further medical treatment.  He had been stabbed in the back and shoulders.
