Man drowns in Cordova lake

Cordova, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska State Troopers said Zakary Zeigler, 21, of Cordova fell out of a kayak and could not get back in.

Troopers report Zeigler had been on a camping trip with others when the accident occurred early Thursday in Eyak Lake.

A female jumped into the water in an attempt to save Zeigler, but her effort was unsuccessful.

Alaska Wildlife Troopers and U.S. Forest Service Agents were able to recover the body from the lake.

Troopers said Zeigler was not wearing a life jacket and alcohol appeared to be a factor.
