Man charged with killing German shepherd

    Sterling, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska State Troopers said Michael Buckwalter, 50, faces several charges including animal cruelty for allegedly discharging a firearm during a disturbance.

    Troopers said Buckwalter killed the two-year-old German shepherd during a disturbance Friday morning.
    Troopers report Buckwalter discharged a firearm and possessed another firearm while intoxicated.
    They also report Buckwalter assaulted another person at the scene.
    He was charged with domestic violence animal cruelty, misconduct involving weapons in the fourth-degree, assault in the fourth-degree, and criminal mischief in the third-degree.
    He was held at the Wildwood Pretrial facility to await a court appearance.
