Man charged in 2016 homicide

    Ivanof Bay, Alaska (KINY) A shooting in a remote village in 2016 resulted in the arrest of Ole Shangin, 32, on two counts of murder.

    A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers said Shangin is charged with first degree murder and second degree murder for the shooting death of Joseph Peterson, 31, on July 17, 2016.

    The warrant for arrest was issued January 25th and Troopers in King Salmon located the suspect on Wednesday and arrested him without incident.

    Troopers responded to a report of a shooting and found Peterson dead at a home in Ivanof Bay, a village about 500 miles (804 kilometers) southwest of Anchorage. Only seven people were recorded living there in the 2010 census.
