Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau Police announce the arrest of a local doctor on multiple sexual assault charges and a charge of harassment.
The department announces that a Juneau Grand Jury indicted Dr. Jeffrey Fultz on April 8 and a $25,000 warrant was issued for his arrest.
The investigation commenced on April 30 of last year when a 34-year-old female Juneau resident reported she was sexually assaulted by a local medical professional.
The victim reported to police that she had been receiving medical care from the 57-year-old Dr. Fultz, at a medical clinic in the 3200 block of Hospital Drive.
While receiving treatment, the victim reported Dr. Fultz allegedly engaged in nonconsensual sexual contact with her. During the course of the investigation, at least two other female victims came forward and provided similar allegations.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the case was referred to the Juneau District Attorney's office. The grand jury indicted the doctor on three counts of sexual assault in the second degree, a Class B Felony, and one count of harassment in the first degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Police say Fultz had moved from Juneau earlier in the year and was believed to be living in Santa Fe New Mexico. A Juneau resident learned of the arrest warrant and notified the Juneau Police Department of Fultz's current location.
Juneau Police Dispatch worked with the Santa Fe Police Department to request assistance in locating Fultz on his warrant. Based on the information provided in the tip, officers with the Santa Fe Police Department recently located Fultz at a business in the Santa Fe area and placed him under arrest per the warrant.
Fultz is currently being held at a jail in the Santa Fe area and is awaiting extradition back to Juneau to stand trial.
The Juneau Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this case, or similar allegations, to please contact the Juneau Police Department's Criminal Investigation Unit.
