Litterbugs pop up during pandemic

Washington, DC (ABC) - There are growing complaints that people are discarding personal protective equipment wherever they want.

Health and sanitation departments across the nation have issued a public appeal for politeness.

They report many gloves, masks and sanitizing wipes are being found in shopping carts and parking lots across the country.

Environmental Health specialist Sara Simmonds said these items have the potential to make other people very, very sick.

The coronavirus can live on the surface of a glove or mask for two days.
