Legislative session move bill moves from Senate Committee, sponsor doubts there'll be further movement

    Wasilla Senator Mike Shower

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Senate State Affairs Committee reported out a legislative session move bill during its deliberations Tuesday, but the committee chair and sponsor figures its movement will stop there.

Senator Mike Shower's Senate Bill 152 calls for the Legislature to meet in Juneau during the first session of the Legislature and in Anchorage during the second session.  It also calls for special sessions to be held in locations other than Juneau.

A committee substitute was introduced to clarify that the bill talks about a legislative session rather than a capital move.

Fairbanks Senator Scott Kawasaki asked a series of questions including some about the fiscal note accompanying the legislation.

In response, Senator Shower's said it really doesn't matter since he fully predicts his bill will be killed by the Finance Committee, its next committee of referral.  Even if it were to move from the Senate, Shower figures it would die in the House.
