Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) The State Division of Elections reported House District 15 incumbent Gabriel LeDoux now leads her primary opponent by 87 votes.
There are 26 absentee ballots that are being reviewed for discrepancies. LeDoux trailed political newcomer Aaron Weaver by three votes after the in-person voting last week. State officials said the ballots had 'authenticity issues'.
LeDoux, a member of the House Majority Coalition, was targeted by the state Republican party, after she joined with Democrats in the last legislative session to form the coalition.
The State reported seven ballots were requested, but never delivered, by people considered dead by the state. Two people claim they didn't vote despite the fact there were absentee ballots in their name.
State Republican leaders said it is possible Weaver will run as a write-in candidate in the November election. The primary election results are certified on Saturday.
Election officials add that a complaint was filed to challenge Weaver's residency, stating he doesn't live in the district.
