Lawyers spar in Manzanares murder case

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) A judge ruled in favor of the defense in an issue of visitation for accused killer Kenneth Manzanares.

U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Burgess prohibited staff with the Alaska Department of Corrections from releasing the name or title of any member of his legal team, as well as the date and nature of their visit to the prison.  That order covers lawyers, investigators for the defense and defense experts.

Manzanares is awaiting trial next year charged with the murder of his wife Kristy, 39, on board a cruise ship in southeast Alaska.

The judge denied a defense motion to prohibit prosecutors from accessing Manzanares phone calls and correspondence will in prison.
