Lady Falcons Smash North Pole in Home Opener

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Junior Charlee Lewis led the Lady Falcons with 14 points; she was 6-8 from the line.

    The Thunder Mountain Lady Falcons basketball team put an exclamation point on the start of their 2018-19 season on Thursday by icing North Pole 57-39.

    The game showcased a complete defensive smothering of the Lady Patriots by sisters Nina and Tasi Funumiai, as well as another blood duo in Mary Khaye and Mary Neal Garcia.

    Charlee Lewis led the Lady Falcons with 14 points; she was 6-8 from the line. Nina Fenumiai was also in double digits with 10 points. Mary Neal Garcia finished with 9 points, while Mary Khaye finished with 8 points. Both Garcia sisters had three-pointers in the game. Tasi Fenumiai also added 8 points off three buckets and a pair of penalty shots. Grace Sikes finished with a bucket.

    The Thunder Mountain girls and boys head to Sitka Friday and Saturday. The Juneau Douglas girls will open against North Pole Friday and Saturday at home.
