Kurka joins race for Governor

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - State Representative Christopher Kurka, a Republican from Wasilla, will run for Governor of Alaska in next year's election.

    Rep. Kurka was elected to the Alaska State House in 2020 for District 7 in Wasilla.

    On his website, issues Kurka addresses range from COVID mandates, healthcare freedom, and the Permanent Fund Dividend.

    In a video posted Monday, Joe Miller, former U.S. Senate candidate, endorsed Kurka.

    In the same video, it states that Kurka plans to release a campaign speech at 3 pm.

    Other candidates that have stepped forward include incumbent Republican Mike Dunleavy, independent Bill Walker, and Democrat Les Gara.
