KINY and Juneau Chamber Present Gubernatorial Candidate Forum at Centennial Hall

Juneau, AK (KINY) - Centennial Hall will be the background of a special Gubernatorial Candidate Forum, presented by KINY and the Greater Juneau Chamber of Commerce.

Moderated by KINY's Pete Carran, this important conversation will help voters hear exactly what each candidate has to say on the critical issues of Alaska. Governor Walker, Mike Dunleavy, and Mark Begich will be there to make their case on why they are the best choice for Alaska and where they stand on more specific issues in Juneau and Southeast.

Chamber of Commerce President Richard Burns stressed the importance of creating this opportunity for the public.

"At the Chamber of Commerce, we really think that this is a very important event, having it as a forum style and being able to get all of the gubernatorial candidates together and let us know exactly where each of them stands on some very important issues for the State of Alaska and also for Juneau as the capital city."

"We think that an experienced newsman like KINY's Pete Carran as the host of the forum will bring a whole new perspective to the event."

Carran has been doing Action Line and a program like it off and on for over 20 years. He was previously a News Director at KINY and KJNO. Overall, Carran has over 50 years of news related experience. Nowadays he is mostly retired but still hosts Action Line every weekday morning.

Burns says that making a reservation helps with the overall planning process.

"If people can RVSP, it does help the Chamber with planning for the event."

The forum will be held on Thursday, September 6th with doors opening at 11 am and the forum starting at noon. A light lunch will be provided. Tickets are $25 and can be acquired on the Greater Juneau Chamber of Commerce website; guests are asked to RVSP online. Future events are also planned for the candidates for Mayor and the Juneau Assembly.

September 20th - All candidates running for the three open Juneau Assembly seats
September 27th - Four candidates running for Juneau Mayor
November - State House and Senate candidates
