King crab fishery to open for 5 days in Juneau area

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The State Fish and Game Department says in a release that a summer personal use red and blue king crab fishery will open this week, the first opening in six years.

    It is  scheduled for five days from this Thursday through Monday.

    The department says its opening the fishery at a reduced harvest level.  Each household will be allowed to take only two male crabs during the fishery.  The day limit is also two.

    The order covers Gastineau Channel, Stephens Passage and part of Lynn Canal.
