King County Sheriff's Office providing fresh look at Sitka cold case

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Police in Sitka along with assistance from law enforcement officials from King County, Washington, and others covered the ground from where Lael Grant disappeared in 2012 over the weekend.

    The woman's vehicle was found abandoned on October 20 of that year eight miles outside Sitka along the road in the ATV parking lot next to the shooting range there.

    Hal Denning is one of the Sitka Police officers in charge of the case said they arranged for a fresh look at the case so they are awaiting analysis from the King Country Sheriff's Office to see what they may have deciphered.

    The search effort also involved members of the Sitka Fire Department, Sitka Mountain Rescue, and Public Safety Academy cadets.  There were three teams of cadaver dogs that were also involved.
